hzrd_clas | Class | The class of a violation describes it’s degree of hazard. In the Housing Maintenance Code, there are three classes of violation: class A (non-hazardous), class B (hazardous) and class C (immediately hazardous). The period in which a landlord is required to correct the condition depends on the class of violation and, for class C violations, the type of violation. A class A violation has a correction period of 90 days. A class B violation has a correction period of 30 days. Class C immediately hazardous violations have the following correction periods based on the type of violation: Lead-Based Paint, Window Guards, Mold, Mice/ Cockroaches, and Rats all have 21 Day correction periods; Self-Closing Doors have a correction period of 14 Days; Heat and hot water Violations must be corrected immediately; all other class C violations have a correction period of 24 hours.
