FloodNet: Sensor Deployment Metadata
For the FloodNet data collection page, please follow this link. This data consists of metadata for each FloodNet sensor including its location. This data can be used to associate FloodNet sensor metadata with Flood Events in the ""FloodNet: Street Flooding Events Measured by FloodNet Sensors"" dataset. The ""Sensor ID"" column in each dataset should be used to make the association. See attached data description document for more details on data collection, analysis & the publication to cite if using the data or including it in any publication or public presentation. More information on the FloodNet project can be found here: https://www.floodnet.nyc Visualization of the data in an online data dashboard can be found here: https://dataviz.floodnet.nyc

Columns
Each source column, with the name and type we use to store it.
5 of 20 columns carry a concept; 20 carry a description from the publisher. Read the concept column before you join. A column with no concept carries no claim from us, and a name that looks like a key is not one.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
:@computed_region_92fq_4b7q | City Council Districts | This column was automatically created in order to record in what polygon from the dataset 'City Council Districts' (92fq-4b7q) the point in column 'location1' is located. This enables the creation of region maps (choropleths) in the visualization canvas and data lens. | Not bound | Number | :@computed_region_92fq_4b7q | numeric | — | |
:@computed_region_sbqj_enih | Police Precincts | This column was automatically created in order to record in what polygon from the dataset 'Police Precincts' (sbqj-enih) the point in column 'location1' is located. This enables the creation of region maps (choropleths) in the visualization canvas and data lens. | Not bound | Number | :@computed_region_sbqj_enih | numeric | — | |
council_district | Council District | The council district that the sensor is installed in. | Not bound | Text | council_district | text | — | |
lowest_point_height_delta_inches | Sensor Ground Height Above Local Low Point (inches) | Difference in elevation, in inches, between the surface beneath the sensor (i.e., the surface being monitored for flooding) and the lowest point in the immediate local area, where flood water is expected to accumulate first. Given limitations in street infrastructure available for installing the sensors, sensors are typically mounted over a section of street or sidewalk that is not at the lowest elevation, where measured flood depth would be greatest, in that immediate local area. The "sensor height above local low point" enables the estimation of flood depth at the deepest point in the immediate local area. |
