NYC Parks Structures
This dataset includes structures within NYC Parks properties. Structures are broadly defined as "an assembly of materials forming construction for occupancy or use." One line of data is a structure. The dataset contains fields that are maintained by multiple agencies including NYC Parks, NYC DoITT, and NYC Planning. Where possible, updated values are pulled from authoritative sources and updated weekly - for more details about specific fields and where they come from please see https://github.com/NYCParks-data/Structures/wiki The System ID and BIN (Building Identification Number) are both required fields. A known limitation to this dataset is that functions other than 'public restroom' and 'recreation center' can and should be attributed to many of the structures. This information will eventually live and be maintained in a related table where all the functions of individual structures can be seen. Columns
Each source column, with the name and type we use to store it.
The publisher has not provided a data dictionary.
1 of 22 columns carry a concept; 22 carry a description from the publisher. Read the concept column before you join. A column with no concept carries no claim from us, and a name that looks like a key is not one.
| Source field | Display name | What the publisher says it is | Concept | Source type | Stored as | Stored type | Row identifier | Unit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
location | LOCATION | The location of the structure; typically the cross streets. | Not bound | Text | location | text | — | |
maintby | MaintBy | The party responsible for the general maintenance of the structure. | Not bound | Text | maintby | text | — | |
bin | BIN | Building Identification Number. A number assigned by City Planning and used by Dept. of Buildings to reference information pertaining to an individual building. The first digit is a borough code (1 = Manhattan, 2 = The Bronx, 3 = Brooklyn, 4 = Queens, 5 = Staten Island). The remaining 6 digits are unique for buildings within that borough. In some cases where these 6 digits are all zeros (e.g. 1000000, 2000000, etc.) the BIN is unassigned or unknown. | bindeclared | Number | bin | numeric | — | |
public_restroom | Public Restroom | Whether the structure has a public restroom | Not bound | Checkbox | public_restroom | boolean | — | |
gispropnum | GISPROPNUM | Unique identification number for each park property, identified by borough/county (B = Brooklyn; M = Manhattan; Q = Queens; R = Richmond (Staten Island); X = Bronx), and followed by a number | Not bound | Text |
